Send the exact assignment or rubric from your classroom and a custom sample written to it lands in 24 to 48 hours, the first one free. HR400 is Purdue Global’s Talent Acquisition and Management course. It centers on building a hiring process whose every screening step traces back to job-related criteria somebody could defend if challenged. Searches like "hr 400 unit 4 assignment example", "HR400 sample paper", and "HR400 unit samples" land on this page.
What HR400 is really about
HR400 starts earlier than most students expect. Before sourcing, before interviews, before any judgment about a candidate, there is a question about the job itself: what the person will actually do, which behaviors separate adequate performance from strong performance, and what somebody must already possess on the first day rather than pick up by the third month. Every later step inherits its defensibility from that analysis. A criterion nobody derived from the work is a preference, and a preference applied to applicants is exactly what a challenge attacks. Many sections supply a role and expect the specification, the criteria and the screening tools built from it in that order, with the reasoning visible at each step.
The second half is method choice. A structured interview with the same questions in the same order and an agreed scoring key is not a formality; it is what makes two interviewers' ratings comparable and what leaves something behind to examine later. Unstructured conversation produces confident judgments nobody can reconstruct afterward. Work samples, assessments and reference checks each carry a trade-off in cost, in time and in what they genuinely predict. Where a step screens out one group at a noticeably different rate than another, the criteria expect that noticed and answered rather than left sitting in the data. Acquisition also does not end at the offer, since a hire who leaves early is a vacancy paid for twice.
What HR400’s assessments ask for
Assignments generally hand you a position and ask for a process around it. Expect a job analysis with its method stated, a job description separating essential duties from marginal ones, and selection criteria written so a reviewer can see which part of the work each one predicts. Sourcing sections ask where candidates would realistically come from and what each channel costs in time. Interview work usually means writing the questions and the scoring key together, since a question with no key produces impressions. Many sections add a defensibility analysis, asking what evidence supports each step if a rejected applicant challenges it, and several close on onboarding measured against something other than a satisfaction form.
Where students lose points in HR400
Points go first to criteria that appeared from nowhere, requirements for a credential or for years of experience the job analysis never supported and that quietly narrow the pool. Second is an interview guide with no scoring key, which leaves the decision resting on who remembers what. Third is a process described with no order and no owner, so a reader cannot tell which step screens out and which merely informs. Marks also go for sourcing plans naming channels without saying who reads them, for adverse impact treated as a legal footnote rather than as a result to examine, for reference checks with no stated purpose, and for onboarding written as a welcome rather than as time to productivity.

Using a HR400 sample the right way
Read a sample by picking one selection criterion and chasing it in both directions. Backwards it should land on a specific duty from the job analysis, and forwards it should appear in a screening question and in the scoring key using the same words. If it vanishes in either direction, the process has a hole a challenge would find. Then study the paragraph explaining what each method actually predicts, since that is where the writer had to choose instead of list. Build yours from the position your assignment gave you, because criteria come from the work, and a different job produces requirements that will not survive.
How these samples are written
Method, in one line: rubric first, structure from the rubric, evidence current, format exact. Discussion samples read like real posts; unit assignments arrive in submission form. Your free request is drafted against what your classroom actually shows.
HR400 questions, answered
Do I need a real job posting for the assignment?
Usually not required, though a live one gives you something to critique. What the criteria examine is whether your requirements trace to duties you identified rather than to language copied from a posting somebody else wrote. If you do use a real advertisement, say where it came from and treat its requirements as claims to test.
How structured does the interview have to be?
Structured enough that two interviewers scoring the same answer would land near each other. That means identical questions in the same order, behavior-based wording, and a key describing what a weak, an adequate and a strong answer contains. Sections vary in how much they demand, but the scoring key is where the marks concentrate in nearly all of them.
Can a sample be built for my HR400 assignment?
It can. Send the unit instructions along with the rubric your section posted, and the first is free and comes back inside 24-48h. Positions differ from one section to the next, and criteria are only defensible against the job they came from, so a version written around yours sits closer to what is being scored.
